Objectives


Reduce delays related to bottlenecks, gaps, and crashes and other incidents for all modes of Florida’s transportation system

Increase the reliability of all modes of Florida’s transportation system

Increase customer satisfaction with Florida’s transportation system and regulatory processes for residents, visitors, and businesses

Increase the efficiency of the supply chain for freight moving to, from, and through Florida

Increase the efficiency and reasonableness of transportation-related regulatory processes

 

Implementation Actions

Implement Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) Policy Plan

Focus on improving interregional connectivity, intermodal connectivity, and economic development through strategic investments in the state’s most significant transportation facilities.

The Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) is Florida’s high priority network of transportation facilities important to the state’s economy. The SIS was established to focus the state’s limited transportation resources on the facilities most significant for interregional, interstate, and international travel. The SIS is the state’s highest priority for transportation capacity investments.

This Implementation Action supports the following FTP objectives:
  • Reduce delays related to bottlenecks, gaps, and crashes and other incidents for all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase the reliability of all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase customer satisfaction with Florida’s transportation system and regulatory processes for residents, visitors, and businesses
  • Increase the efficiency of the supply chain for freight moving to, from, and through Florida
  • Increase transportation connectivity between Florida’s economic centers and regions
  • Increase transportation connectivity between Florida and global and national trading partners and visitor origin markets

 

Continue to strengthen linkage between operations and planning

Implement and update Transportation System Operations and Management (TSM&O) Strategic Plan. Integrate transportation systems operations and management strategies into highway, transit, and multimodal corridor plans. Consider operations from a corridor perspective.

This Implementation Action supports the following FTP objectives:
  • Reduce delays related to bottlenecks, gaps, and crashes and other incidents for all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase the reliability of all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase customer satisfaction with Florida’s transportation system and regulatory processes for residents, visitors, and businesses
  • Increase the efficiency of the supply chain for freight moving to, from, and through Florida

 

Continue Future Corridor Planning Process

Transform existing interregional corridors and develop new corridors to close interregional connectivity gaps and support economic development opportunities. Build on guiding principles developed cooperatively with state, regional, and local agencies and environmental stakeholders to balance corridor decisions with environmental stewardship, economic development, and land use/community development decisions.

This Implementation Action supports the following FTP objectives:
  • Reduce delays related to bottlenecks, gaps, and crashes and other incidents for all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase the reliability of all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase customer satisfaction with Florida’s transportation system and regulatory processes for residents, visitors, and businesses
  • Increase the efficiency of the supply chain for freight moving to, from, and through Florida

 

Promote innovative urban mobility solutions

Key Partners Include:

  • Florida DOT

Provide targeted support to MPOs and local governments to develop innovative solutions for moving people and freight, including expanding modal choices and deploying new technologies.

This Implementation Action supports the following FTP objectives:
  • Reduce delays related to bottlenecks, gaps, and crashes and other incidents for all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase the reliability of all modes of Florida’s transportation system
  • Increase customer satisfaction with Florida’s transportation system and regulatory processes for residents, visitors, and businesses
  • Increase the efficiency of the supply chain for freight moving to, from, and through Florida

 

Promote innovative rural mobility solutions
